You'll love this amazing Paint in Bags Sensory Activity for Toddlers!
When you're a busy parent, whether you're a stay at home mama or you work from home, busy toddlers can make it hard to feel productive at the best of times.
They are often into things parents want them to stay out of and are full of energy!
However when this energy is not used in a healthy, productive way through multi-sensory play or activity of some sort, many toddlers start getting destructive or start whining!

This sensory activity for toddlers is so handy because:
it's simply put together
requires mostly household items
is a fun thing to 'build' together
it doesn't take much time, and
usually toddlers find this entertaining for at least a few more minutes than anything else!
So how can I make this Paint bag sensory activity for toddlers?
Firstly, find the items you need.
(Note: This is for 4 sensory bags, double or halve the items you need as you want.)
You will need double the number of snap lock bags per sensory bag, because it is well worth the time to double bag these!
Coloured paint- 4 - 8 different colours
Glitter glue like this Elmer's Glitter Glue
8 snap lock bags
A small handful of sand
Step 1:
Insert 4 bags inside the other 4, leaving all of them open.
Decide which colours of paint you might like to use. I often add glitter of a different colour, so blue and silver, or red and gold, white and pink.
These look really good because they contrast more effectively with the paint colours, which I really like-and many kids do too!
Step 2:
Once you have decided on the paint colours and combinations, add them to the bags.
It's best to add a good half a cup or more of paint, depending on the size of the bags themselves. Add a couple of tablespoons of glitter per bag for sparkly effect!
For an extra sensory addition, a small handful of sand, or a tablespoon of sequins in one or two bags are great favourites too!
Step 3:
Close both bags tightly, making sure there are no leaks!
Make sure that the air is carefully squeezed out-or at least as much as possible. If some air remains in the bag (either layer), the sensory feel of the paint, sand, glitter mixture is reduced due to the air bubble.
Sensory activity for toddlers like this one are wonderful for their development, because it teaches them touch, physical texture and gives them yet another physical experience to add to their growing understanding of the world.
Making these can also be used as a colour-mixing activity, learning about colours and can be used to build a whole play space around for a rainy day!
